Your daughter will want to wear comfortable clothes, running/walking shoes, and socks. Throughout the season we will meet outside as much as possible, so please have your daughter/guardian dress appropriately, according to the current weather patterns. This is Idaho so we never know what to expect, especially during the change in seasons. If the weather is blustery or hot during GOTR, the group will still meet, just at an inside location on site.

Please have your daughter/guardian wear sunscreen and bring a water bottle to GOTR each day. We want each girl to stay safe from the sun and be hydrated.

PICK UP

After each meeting, the coaches will be available to answer any of your questions. We ask that you please arrive within 10 minutes after each GOTR practice. If you are unable to arrive by the designated time, please make arrangements for another person to pick up your daughter. Our coaches are required to stay at each site until the last girl has been picked up or has walked home. Our coaches are volunteers and have other commitments outside of GOTR. If a parent is late, it might make our volunteers late or even miss their other commitments.

ATTENDANCE/ABSENTEE POLICY

It is very important for girls to attend both sessions each week because the lessons build up from one to the next and because group relationships build over time. A girl who is absent more than 4 times may be removed from the program for the rest of the season.

DURING THE SEASON

There are three parts to every day: “Getting on Board” – to introduce the topic of the day; “The Warm-Up” – to slowly get the girls’ muscles warmed up; and “The Workout” – which is the more active part of the day. After each section there is time for discussion. Everyone’s ideas and comments are important and can be shared openly with the group. Everyday will end with spirit awards and cheers.

If at any time during the season you have any questions, concerns or stories, please send us an e-mail or call the Girls on the Run office at 208-388-4687, email Melissa.
